About Us

Photobucket
This blog is written by a couple of liberal patriots who aren't quite as pissed off as they were a couple of years ago, but aren't taking anything for granted, either. We share a fierce dedication to the Constitution - the only words ever put to paper worth dying for, and we'll argue it's finer liberal points with anyone.

We exist to remind y'all that America was founded on four boxes:
  • The Soapbox
  • The Ballot Box
  • The Jury Box
  • The Ammo Box
They should be used in that order. This is our soapbox.

A set-up from the get-go

That Army Major who refused his orders is a real piece of work.  And he really does fancy himself quite clever.  He has been conspiiring to pull this shit for a while, since the last birther case was tossed literally laughed out of court.

This guy requested orders to Afghanistan, knowing they would come through, and knowing that he could not only ask to have them revoked and get out of going, he could make a try to get a toehold for his insane cause at the same time on another front.

Let's cut through the bullshit.  This asshole manipulated military protocol to promote his own lunatic-fringe political purposes.

That ought to get his ass a Court Martial.

**********UPDATE 5:10 p.m.**********

A couple of old E7s taught me to meaning of 'too clever by half' when I was young and impetuous and green as hell.  The Major in question apparently never had the benefit of their wise counsel, because he really didn't think this one through.

I was just emailed a link to a story on WingNutDaily reporting that he has been fired by his employer, a civilian company...that contracts for the department of defense.  In other words, his military career isn't the only thing that came to a screeching halt - so did his civilian career.

Of course the winger press spins it and makes vague allegations of retaliation, but that's bullshit.  They should try to spin that past someone whose background hasn't been so thoroughly investigated that the FBI interviewed her prom date's mother. I've been through the security clearance process and I call bullshit.

There is no retaliation.  He lost his fucking clearance.  And the minute he lost his clearance he could no longer work in the capacity he had been employed in, his job was contingent upon his clearance. If he didn't know he would lose his clearance and along with it his civilian job as soon as he set foot on this path, he is even more delusional and stupid than I already thought he was.  Dumbass.

*****UPDATE 1:00, July 16*****

Case Dismissed

A Federal Judge, calling the case moot since his orders had been rescinded, threw out the third try that Orly Taitz has made at getting her obsession a hearing in Federal Court.

This link at WaMo generated some discussion in comments there. Yes, I am aware that he will have to be called to active duty to be court martialed.  I also know that the Army doesn't like to make martyrs. Examples, however, are another matter.

This guy is a perfect example of what is wrong with the military, and I am most certainly not going to thank him for his previous service, before he was seduced by teh crazy.  He is one of the god-boys who fancies himself a 'defender of the faith' according to his Freeper postings.  Idiots like him have gutted the military and in far, far too many instances driven good Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines out of the service.  Proselytizing evangelicals are a real problem, the Air Force has been especially affected by these assholes and I watched it happen.  So no, I won't be thanking him for his service and am thrilled to see everything blowing up in this particular god-boy's face.

His attorney was crowing yesterday that we now effectively have no military because the Army canceled his orders while he was still a private citizen.

Um, no.  Not quite.

One reservist officer, represented by a crazy dentist masquerading as an attorney - they might outprocess and call it a day and be glad to be rid of him.  Except - his attorney tried this shit a few months ago with a retired officer who protested that he might be recalled to active duty (that possibility goes with retaining your commission and retiring vs resigning a commission and walking away) and the judge who threw that one out literally laughed out loud.  So she found a reservist patsy who could request orders and then have them rescinded and try it that way.

The Army may be tiring of this meddlesome bitch and do something to make an example, and he might be the guy because of how he manipulated the military process for political reasons.  It sure as hell will bring the full fury of the UCMJ if an Active Duty Soldier tries some silly shit like this.

(When I wrote this yesterday, I assumed that the few hundred who come here every day are the people who would see this, so I hit the highlights knowing that audience - a group of people who, if they were polled, would represent a startlingly high number of people who know where their DD-214 is.  If I had known my friend Steve was going to link it, I would have bothered to explain the mechanism by which he would have to be court martialed.  Suddenly I had a whole bunch of readers who I could not assume just knew this stuff.  My bad, and I apologize for any confusion created by that or for anyone who came away with a wrong impression.)

Agreed.  But it won't.

We no longer punish dickwads for being dickwads in this country.  In many cases, the get memorial libraries built in their honor and aircraft carriers named after them.

Of course, this guy isn't that big a fish... in fact, he's nothing but a minnow sized tool for the bigger fish... but to the twenty percenters, every little bit helps.

If God ever decides to give the world an enema, I'm pretty sure Wall Street is where He'll stick the hose.

Wingnutdaily article (4.00 / 1)
Blue Girl linked to a Wingnutdaily article (worldnetdaily). So I read the wingnut article. Ok, I couldn't finish it, because it was a several page rehash of efforts to prove Obama is not an American citizen.  It just got tedious after a while.

However, I noticed two very interesting things about the worldnetdaily article. All of the hyperlinks send you to either two categories of sites. One category of sites is just other worldnetdaily articles. The other category of hyperlinks sends you to websites where you can buy stuff. For instance they highlight the name of the company that the Major worked for. Is it a link to the company's website? NO. It is a link to Dun & Bradstreet. Another hyperlink in a sentence about the Defense Security Services, a purported arm of the DOD, does not send you to that agency, but to an internet security firm selling home security. When discussing how the private contractor is a closely held corporation, the link does not link you to information about the corporation but to a company that will help you incorporate.

So every link on the wingnutdaily page either tries to sell you something, or just circles back to another wingnutdaily article. No outside sourcing.

As for the Major, he needs to be courtmartialed.  Whether or not he really wanted to serve in Afghanistan or it was all just a set up for publicity, if he does not recognize the authority of his superiors that is conduct unbecoming and insubordination.  For the safety of his subordinates he needs to be out.

BG, are you taking notes? (0.00 / 0)
This is obviously a major money-making opportunity.

If only the companies that make things that liberals want to buy had the money to buy blog links ....

A soldier who had failed so completely would throw himself onto his sword.

The Romans had a fine way to atone.
