About Us

This blog is written by a couple of liberal patriots who aren't quite as pissed off as they were a couple of years ago, but aren't taking anything for granted, either. We share a fierce dedication to the Constitution - the only words ever put to paper worth dying for, and we'll argue it's finer liberal points with anyone.

We exist to remind y'all that America was founded on four boxes:
  • The Soapbox
  • The Ballot Box
  • The Jury Box
  • The Ammo Box
They should be used in that order. This is our soapbox.

Another monstrous act by the Worst. American. Ever.

Jimmy Carter is headed home from North Korea, and he has Aijalon Mahli Gomes with him. Gomes, 31, an English teacher in South Korea, had breen held since January by North Korean authorities for illegally crossing the border between North Korea and China. He was found guilty of the charge in April and sentenced to eight years at hard labor. A devout Christian, Gomes considered himself a one-man peace mission.

In addition to releasing Mr. Gomes to Mr. Carter, the hermit state also committed to return to the peace table to discuss halting their nuclear weapons program.

Mr Carter met senior North Korean officials after arriving in Pyongyang on Wednesday on what was described as "a private humanitarian trip".

On his arrival, Mr Carter was met by North Korea's nuclear negotiator, Kim Kye-gwan, KCNA said.

Later he held "cordial" talks with the country's deputy leader, Kim Yong-nam, the agency said.

Six-nation talks aimed at ending North Korea's nuclear ambitions have been stalled for several months.

I can't but laugh at the morons on the right who, just days ago, pegged Jimmy Carter, in their fevered little cranial voids, the worst American ever.

Deranged Republicans (0.00 / 0)
If you  look at the facts, Carter was far from the worst President ever -- stagflation preceded his term in office (thus President Ford's ridiculous "Whip Inflation Now" WIN buttons) and it was his policies that eventually brought inflation back under control, and indeed, he largely governed like a moderate Republican, deregulating natural gas and oil pipelines and banks and S&L's, procuring massive numbers of F-14, F-15, and F-16 fighter jets, starting construction on the Aegis cruisers, and procuring large numbers of frigates. Republicans like to point at the B1 bomber cancellation as proof he was "anti-military", but the B1 after Reagan bought it has proven to be a maintenance-hog fiasco, now slated to go out of service even before the B52 bombers that the B1 was supposed to replace. And a friend says that suckering the Soviets into Afghanistan was actually a plan, that Carter's foreign policy gurus wanted to create the Soviet Union's very own Vietnam to tear that nation apart the way the U.S. version did, and someone I know who was Special Forces at the time says that Carter sent his unit into Afghanistan to train and arm the anti-Communist forces long before Reagan took office.

In other words, while far from the best president ever, Carter was definitely solid mid-tier as a President. Now, what is also clear is that Carter has been a much better EX-President than President....

-- Trying the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is insanity.
